Building Bright Futures

Paul Robeson Charter School is poised to impact more lives and to strengthen the broader community by expanding in the ways that matter most. The BUILDING BRIGHT FUTURES Campaign, a $4 million initiative, is all about charting a course for even greater success and increasing the positive impact that is the hallmark of PRCS.

Our Purpose
To meet the demonstrated demand from families and the community, the new space will allow PRCS to build even more bright futures, increasing enrollment from the current 435 to 675 students.
Student
By adding kindergarten, first and second grades to the current grades 3-8, we will be able to reach pupils during their crucial earliest school years, creating a foundation for academic and lifelong success by making sure youngsters don't fall behind before they enter our classrooms.
The total project budget of $33 million includes $26 million for construction, creating jobs and contributing to revitalization and development in an area where there have been vacant lots and deteriorating properties. The appealing campus and grounds will have a positive environmental impact
With an already impressive retention rate and dedicated and qualified staff, the new PRCS building will strengthen our ability to attract the best educators and have them remain with us for years to come. The facility will send the same message to educators that it does to students and the community: You Matter, You are Worthy and You Belong Here.
THE PLACE

PRCS has purchased a 3.10 acre property at 1289 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, which will be home to the new, state-of-the-art educational facility our students and staff need and deserve. This $4 million capital campaign goal will help fill the funding gap and allow us to provide a custom-built, modern school that is warm and welcoming, safe and secure, inside and out for our students. Our new home will have a transformative effect for the students who will have access to greater resources to help them thrive in the many years to come.

The new 55,000 square foot facility will include:
  • 38 classrooms
  • 2 science labs
  • 2 special education resource rooms
  • Gymnasium
  • Cafeteria with commercial kitchen
  • Nursing station
  • Administrative and staff offices
  • Counseling center
  • Teacher/leadership workroom
  • Outdoor recreation, playgrounds and fields
  • Dedicated parking and drop-off/pick-up zones
